Birthday Party

This weekend i am attending a Birthday party.
Back to the sweet memories of child hood and college days..
I love attending Birthday Parties. During my childhood till Graduation we used to have very good birthday bashes.Most of my friends including me were born in the month of September So come September there's a party almost every alternate day...

Our Parties usually were of 4 kinds.

1. Party at Home:- This typically included Cake cutting,Yummy Snacks preferably Veg Puff,Chips,Sandwich.any other mom made rice item, Sweet,Coke besides chit chatting with friends and dancing.

These Parties were real fun for us but moms had hard time cooking,arranging and managing the over active gangs and had to bear the nuisance. We used to arrange these parties at terraces and used to trouble the neigbours with loud music.

2. Party at the Icecream Parlour/Bakery:- Some of those Icecream Lovers used to treat us in the Icecream Parlour "Snowfield", the only posh icecream shop in our hometown at that time.Each person used to have atleast 3 different icecreams,pastry,Merapakaya Bajji and make a big show at the shop. People who came to the shop especially couples who came to the shop to spend some time together used to run away whenever we were partying.The Shop owner, a middle aged guy never bothered with our noise rather he used to be overwhelmed with joy seeing us as the Party Bills usually were high..

3. Movie Party:- Movie Buffs used to take us to movies on their Birthdays.We used to go to Movie theater straight from school/college in the evening. Besides Movie, Birthday babies used to sponsor for Popcorn,Coke,Samosas..

4. Party at Dosa Camp:- We had a famous Dosa camp,a small hotel exclusive for dosas in our home town.There we get nearly 25 varieties of Dosas. So some of the Birthday Babies used to make us happy with Dosas...

After college all of us dispersed, moved to different places and countries.. and after that there was a drastic change in Birthday Celebration.
At work there is a treat for the Birthday Baby from the team members,project party - a formal Cake cutting ceremony with Snacks and soft drinks at the cafetaria with boss around .. A lunch treat from the Birthday baby in a restaurant..
In the evening a movie and a very good candle light dinner with spouse/fiancee or a dinner treat for the family.

On my birthday,the first one after i started working, my mom told me to distribute Sweets and Chocolates in an orphanage. I didn't like the idea initially as i wanted to utilise that 2 hours watching my favourite movie but my mom insisted that i go. When i was distributing the orphan kids Sweets and Chocolates,I saw the sparkle in a little boy's eyes and joy while eating the sweet - at that moment i had a feeling difficult to describe - tears rolled into my eyes after that i felt some sense of accomplishment and i was very happy. I realised that must be the true happiness you get when you serve others and make others happy,especially those who don't have anybody to take care and love... And on that day i've made it a point to distribute Sweets and Chocolates to the orphan kids and donate some money to the orphanage on my Birthday.Whenever i can't go personally because of the busy schedules i send my family members or friends to do it on my behalf.

After all Birthday is a day to celebrate our existence in this universe!!
How we can bring a difference to the world with our life is up to us....
